How it works
How Ujala Hope works
Two journeys. One of them ends at a receipt; the other ends at having to show what the money did.
This document is a draft
It states the platform's intended position and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. Contact details and response commitments are not final. It is published now so the terms of the product are visible before it takes real money, not because it is settled.
If you are giving
- 1Find work you care aboutBrowse by cause or city. Every campaign belongs to a registered organisation whose verification date is visible before you give.
- 2Check the proof, not just the promiseLook at what was checked and when, read the fund-use reports the organisation has already published, and see how many people have given.
- 3Give without an accountChoose an amount, add your name, email and mobile number, and pay by UPI or card. Your payment details stay with the gateway and never reach us.
- 4Add your PAN, now or laterSupplying a PAN and address makes the donation eligible for an 80G certificate. You can add it at checkout, or from the link we email you, any time before 31 March.
- 5Get confirmed by webhook, not by browserA donation is confirmed when the payment gateway tells our server it succeeded — never by the page you land on. If your connection drops at checkout, nothing is lost.
- 6Come back for the follow-throughThe organisation publishes updates and evidence of what your money paid for on the same campaign page. You are emailed when it does, unless you would rather not be.

If you are a registered NGO
You will need your registration certificate, organisation PAN and a bank proof in the organisation's name before you start. Only registered entities — trusts, societies and Section 8 companies — can raise here.
- 1Create the organisation profileLegal name, registration type and number, mission, causes and location. This is the public face; nothing is visible until verification completes.
- 2Upload documents, and verify a phone numberRegistration certificate, organisation PAN and bank proof — plus the 80G certificate if you hold one. Documents are stored privately and every read by a reviewer is logged.
- 3Wait for reviewA reviewer checks registration, PAN and that the payout account belongs to the organisation. If something is missing you are told exactly what, and you update only that.
- 4Publish a campaignA story, a goal, a timeline and photographs. Each campaign is reviewed separately — being verified does not auto-publish everything you write.
- 5Withdraw after the hold periodDonations become withdrawable 7 days after they settle. You see the exact deductions before requesting, and the payout uses the fee the gateway actually charged — never a modelled percentage.
- 6Account for it before the next withdrawalPublish what the payout paid for, with photographs where you have them. The next withdrawal from that fund is blocked until you do. This is the platform's core promise to donors, and it is enforced rather than requested.
What we ask of you that other platforms do not
The utilisation requirement is real work, and it is the reason donors here have a reason to come back. We keep it as light as we can — a short note and a photograph is enough, and it does not have to be an audited statement — but it is not optional, and we would rather say so now than after you have raised money.
How campaigns are ordered
No organisation can pay for a position. Campaigns further from their goal rank higher, and publishing an update to donors raises a campaign — editing its text does not. The complete rule is published.
